I am assuming if you are looking at this recipe you already have an air fryer – and if you don’t that’s okay too! As I mentioned above, I have a Banana Chocolate Chip Muffin recipe you can adapt to a loaf and cook in the oven. Now if you are looking to purchase one then you can check out my favorite air fryer.

You will also need to make sure you have a good quality 8″ round cake pan to pour the batter into for baking as you cannot bake the banana bread directly in your air fryer.

The last thing you need to have is a cooking oil spray to coat the cake pan before the batter goes in. This prevents the bread from sticking, especially with all that delicious chocolate!

Tips and Tricks for Baking in your Air Fryer

Baking in your air fryer is surprisingly easy, but there are a few tips I have for you to make sure that this is the best banana bread you have ever tasted.

First of all, please make sure you have the right equipment for the job! You cannot pour the batter into the air fryer basket and expect a perfectly round and unstuck cake. It just won’t happen. You also want to make sure you preheat the machine, like with regular baking a preheated oven is crucial to how your cake will rise and bake.

Don’t forget the spray – you can even add a piece of parchment paper cut to size to fit the cake pan if you want to make it even easier to get the banana bread out when it’s finished baking. Between the mashed bananas and the chocolate chips there is a lot of sugar that can stick to the pan.

No two air fryers are the same, so make sure you set the bake time and check the cake before you take it out to rest. You may find that it is still wet in the center when tested with a toothpick, which will require you to put it back in (I suggest 5 minutes extra at a time).
