One thing I love about this recipe is the ability to change it up and mix in whatever nuts you have on hand. For an extra special treat sometimes I will make them with cashews or macadamia nuts – normally when doing up little treat boxes for gifting as they aren’t a nut I always have on hand.
And the only equipment you need to make them is your trusty slow cooker – it literally does all the work for you once you’ve put your ingredients together.
Now since this recipe is so easy I won’t bore you with any fluff, let’s get straight to making these delicious little morsels of chocolate nutty goodness!
Step-by-Step Making Nut Clusters
- Begin by gathering ingredients, and roughly chop any bar chocolate you are using. (I like to mix types of chocolate when making this recipe as you’ll see below). It gives them a richer, more chocolatey flavor.
- Prepare 3 baking sheets – lined with parchment paper and set aside.
- Layer ingredients into slow cooker (in this specific order to avoid burning)- Peanuts, Almonds, Chocolate, Sea Salt, Vanilla Syrup.
- Set slow cooker to low temperature and let cook for about 20 minutes with the lid on. Remove lid after 20 minutes and give a good stir to start mixing the melted chocolate with the nuts.
- Place lid back on and continue to cook for another 20 minutes until chocolate is fully melted. Stir well and make sure all the nuts are coated in chocolate.
- Set slow cooker to keep warm while you use a small cookie scoop to scoop clusters onto prepared baking sheets. Top with an additional little sprinkle of Kosher salt if desired (or you can use sprinkles!).

Notes
- I like to use unsalted nuts in this recipe vs a salted nut.
- You can use either roasted or raw nuts, whichever you prefer.
- Once set you can remove from trays and store in an airtight container. These will keep beautifully in the fridge for about 1 week, or freeze for up to 3 months.
- Allow to come to room temperature before eating.
